Install & Configure Fring

Most of us use our mobile internet connection to browse and check emails, add more fun to it by making very cheap (or free) international calls. In my previous blog I explained about how to install nimbuzz on your mobile, if you are rather interested on nimbuzz installation, please check my previous blog.

Fring is a free mobile tool with many feature like Skype, Google talk, MSN, twitter, etc. I don’t intend to explain all features of fring here, we will only discuss how we configure voipduniya sip account to make cheap international voip calls from your mobile. As I mentioned in my previous blog, though this blog explains about voipduniya account configuration, you can use it with any other sip account you may have, the procedure will be the same.

Installation

First of all go to http://www.fring.com/ to see that your mobile phone is supported. You can install fring by either of the following:

1. Direct download to your mobile: Download and install from: http://www.fring.com/download/
2. Download to your PC and use data cable to install it though pc suite

SIP Configuration

Click menu and select ‘Configure Services’, little popup will be shown.  Select ‘SIP’ and then click on ‘Other’ in the new window. Provide your sip details. Login to your voipduniya account at: htt://www.voipduniya.com and click on ‘sip details’ in myaccount page. Note your sip username and password.

Username: append ‘@voipduniya.com at the end of your username. So for example if your username is 23453245, enter 23453245@voipduniya.com

Password: Enter your sip password here. Remember that password is case sensitive. So if your password contains any alpha characters enter it in the right case.

Proxy Server: enter sip.voipduniya.com

That’s it, your voipduniya ccount is configured, now fring will try to login to you sip account(register) in voipduniya server, if the registration failed check the data you have entered in username, password and proxy server.

Add your favourites number in to the address book. To make a call click on a contact and then press menu, then select ‘SIP Call’. That’s it.  This will go through your voipduniya sip account.

Nimbuzz Installation & Configuration

Getting unlimited GPRs connection is not a big deal anymore, when I got my BlackBerry pearl a year ago from O2 it came with their unlimited internet boltom. Now many providers offer unlimited internet with your mobile contract. What we use it for, well, we check our emails, browse favourite sites, go to facebook, myspace, twitter, etc. Then why not do a cheap international call from it ? A valid question of course, and the answer is: it’s very straight forward thanks to nimbuzz and fring.

The Requirements

1. A mobile with internet access
2. A sip account from a sip provider like http://www.voipduniya.com

Download & Install Nimbuzz on your mobile

First of all go to http://www.nimbuzz.com and make sure that your phone is in their supported list. Now download the application in to your mobile, you can either get it directly from http://get.nimbuzz.com or download it to your pc and then install it using a data cable through pc suite. Follow the instructions on your mobile to complete the installation. Once the installation is done, open Nimbuzz.

Configure a SIP account

I will explain how to configure your mobile phone for Nimbuzz with a voipduniya account, however you can use it with any other sip account.

1- Click on ‘Options’ and then select ‘Settings’, this will bring up small popup window. Scroll through it using your arrow keys and select ‘SIP’ or ‘Use Your VoIP Account’.

2- From the new popup screen, select ‘sip other’ or ‘other Voip Account’

3- Provide your sip details here. Login to your voipduniya account at: htt://www.voipduniya.com and click on ‘sip details’ in myaccount page. Note your sip username and password.

Password: Enter your sip password here. Remember that password is case sensitive. So if your password contains any alpha characters enter it in the right case.

Domain: voipduniya.com

Proxy Server: enter sip.voipduniya.com

That’s it, your voipduniya ccount is configured, now nimbuzz will try to login to you sip account(register) in voipduniya server, once it’s successfully registered ‘SIP Other’ menu will change in to ‘SIP Other Connected’.

Add your favourites number in to the phone book. To make a call click on ‘Phone book’ and then ‘Call’ in your address book. Under options select ‘Call’ and then ‘Internet Call’. This will go through your voipduniya sip account.

NOTE: If you see a ‘+’ automatically appearing before your destination number, you got to remove it. Voipduniya expects the number to start with ’00′.

Nokia users add g729

Use g729 audio codec for best performance, Nokia users can add g729 by installing ’Nokia SIP Voip Settings‘. Check nokia voip settings user guide for more help.
